За нас/About us
We are building a path to the future
Already in its second academic year, the Bulgarian school "Vasily Aprilov", with its two branches in Bournemouth and Portsmouth, is included in the list of schools abroad, supported according to PMS 90 - 01.07.2018. For the first year, we will also offer our children the possibility of distance learning.
The academic year 2017-2018 will remain memorable for the Bulgarian community in the Dorset and Hampshire areas, as on September 10, 2017 the Bulgarian Sunday School "Vasil Aprilov" opened its doors in Bournemouth, and a week later on September 17, 2017 with the assistance and support of Bulgarian Folklore and Educational Center "Vasil Aprilov" the Bulgarian community in Portsmouth was happy with the opening of the Bulgarian Sunday School in the city. BFOC "Vasil Aprilov" was formed on February 1, 2017. with the aim of the local unification of the Bulgarian community in the area of the Dorset region. Despite the fact that we live and work in Great Britain, we realize that we have a responsibility to teach our children to speak, read and write Bulgarian and to raise them to be proud of our culture, history and traditions. The organization started by organizing thematic gatherings on the occasion of official Bulgarian holidays with the participation of a dance group for adults "Golden Class" - March 1st, March 3rd, Easter, St. George's Day, May 24th.
The Bulgarian Folklore and Educational Center "Vasil Aprilov" has clearly set goals for action:
- Unification of Bulgarians living in Dorset and Hampshire, Great Britain
- Preservation and dissemination of the Bulgarian language, culture and traditions
- Opening of Bulgarian Sunday schools
- Creation of a cultural, informational and educational center
Living in a multi-linguistic and cultural environment, we would like to maintain close ties with other cultural and linguistic communities by promoting the Bulgarian language, culture and history. In addition to classes in Bulgarian language, literature and history, we organize folklore, sports and other interest clubs.
On the occasion of St. George's Day in 2017, the Bulgarian community from the area took part in the Sixth St. George's Day Chorus, organized in London, as an integral part of which were our youngest participants - the future students from the "Vasil Aprilov" school. Together with the Bulgarian community in Portsmouth, we organized a folk festival in honor of the International Children's Day, a picnic - barbecue, which took place on June 4, 2017.

In the creative work classes, we create, learn and have fun. From the first of October 2017, the children's folklore dance group, led by the choreographer Ani Yurukova, started to promote Bulgarian folklore among our children and the other cultural communities among which we live. The group also accepts children who do not yet attend school. Download the dance group registration form from the link below.
Electronic school
For complete information and to preserve the confidentiality and personal information of the children, we provide our students and parents with a secure and easy way of communication through an electronic portal approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Here you will be able to check the student's attendance, grades, what we have studied, what the homework is and also contact the teacher if you need. A virtual classroom for each lesson and subject will also be opened in the same portal.
The school, with the help of our dedicated parents, has its own library, which is being enriched with each passing day. Each child can view the catalog of available books and reserve the desired book online. Login to the library here .
At the end of the first school year, we introduced the use of the innovative Google classroom, where teachers set homework and directions online and students return them online for review.
